With winter break approaching, it's time to make a list of the school supplies you need to replenish for the New Year. During X-Block this week, you'll be checking that your pencil case has all of the necessary supplies:
It was so exciting getting to meet the students of the Phoenix Team today! After a long day of learning about middle school, the team took to the outdoors for a little team-building. They had to pass a sponge along a relay line to fill up a water bottle. It sure was fun!
Hi! I am Leia Bradley, social studies teacher on the Phoenix Team. I am excited to start my 10th year at Springman with our new students! We will be learning and growing together, solving problems, collaborating, and thinking like historians. I look forward to exploring U.S. history together!
As the student services teacher, I am the case manager for many students on the team who have IEPs- Individual Education Plans. My job is to collaborate with the rest of the teachers to make sure that these student’s specific needs are being met.
I teach three different classes to some of these students. First, I teach two sections of a resource class each day. During resource, I am working with my students primarily on organization and study skills. I also use resource to encourage and monitor homework completion as well as a time to review concepts from Science, SS, Math, Reading, and Writing. Once or twice a month, I have individual conferences with students to review their IEP goals, help them monitor their own progress in a variety of areas, and then celebrate achievements with them.
I also teach Math. Similar to resource, this class will be taught in a small group environment, with a focus on Common Core Standards and IEP goals. We will use a variety of resources in order to focus on an improvement in overall math skills.
In addition to my own classes, I support students in some general ed math, reading, and writing classes.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the team or my classes.
