El Día de los Muertos

This week the Global Language team will be discussing "Día de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) in Spanish classes, and "Toussaint" in French classes.

Día de los Muertos is a celebration that takes place at the beginning of November, and honors loved ones that have passed away; it is a joyful celebration of life. We will discuss the history of the holiday as well as its many influences on Mexican culture and the world. In 7th and 8th grade classes we will be watching the Pixar film "Coco" to further our understanding of this holiday.

Toussaint is a holiday celebrated in France on the 1st and 2nd of November, and is an opportunity to visit and remember loved ones that have passed away. We will discuss the history of the holiday and will create a tombstone for a famous French cultural figure.

**If you have any questions or concerns about anything that is being covered/shown in class, please don’t hesitate to contact your student's Spanish teacher.
