Welcome students to 7th grade science with Ms. Kaiser :) I am looking forward to getting to know and meet each and every scientist that you are and will become. Make sure to come to class prepared with your binder, composition notebook, and iPad each day!
10/13/2017 | Space Systems
The Space System unit has commenced! Students in science will be extensively learning, exploring, and inquiring about Space for the rest of this trimester. Students will learn what tools we use to explore space, how the universe is theorized to be created and is organized, different lunar phases and eclipses as well as Earth's rotation, revolution, seasons. It is very imperative you keep up with the homework each night and take diligent notes as you will not be able to participate in class if you don't. As a reminder I hold office hours every Monday and Tuesday morning; I encourage anyone to come in for extra help if they need it!
01/18/2017 | Waves Unit
The Waves unit has commenced! Students in science will be extensively learning, exploring, and inquiring about waves for the rest of this trimester. Students will learn what waves are, their anatomy, how they move, and the about the extensive different varieties. It is very imperative you keep up with the readings each night and take diligent notes as you will not be able to participate in class if you don't. As a reminder I hold office hours every Tuesday morning; I encourage anyone to come in for extra help if they need it!
11/30/2016 | Calling All Coders! Hour of Code Night at GBS
On Thursday, December 8th, members of the Society of Women Engineers and Engineering Club are hosting an Hour of Code night at Glenbrook South High School and would like to invite students to participate. Participants will learn how to code LEDs and LCD displays using an Arduino microcontroller. If students have never coded, don't worry, we welcome anyone no matter their experience level! The event is limited to the first 40 students who sign up and is $5 which includes pizza. The first 10 people who sign up will receive a free Arduino Board! This event is open to students in grades 6th - 8th and taking place in our state of the art Makerspace! More information including the application can be found here.
03/17/2016 | Science in Trimester 3
The beginning of the 3rd trimester means we are starting a new unit in science. In the next few months students will be learning out the water cycle, weather, and climate. We will also be exploring how we could have an effect on our climate. From now until spring break each student will be taking down daily weather data that is happening in Glenview, ask your child to share what they have found!
